CHARACTERISTICS
DeGrease is an innovative product designed for the degradation of oils and fats of animal, vegetable and mineral origin, as well as aromatic organic compounds. These elements, in an aqueous environment, form an impermeable film that impedes gas exchange and suffocates the purifying biomass in activated sludge flocs. The use of DeGrease, a specialised bacterial consortium, facilitates improved oxygen transfer, regular biomass development and an overall improvement in purification yields.
Applications
DeGrease is suitable for various industrial waste treatment plants, including:
- Agro-food industry (slaughterhouses, dairies, ice cream parlours, canneries, etc.)
- Chemical industry
- Petrochemical industry
- Textile industry (degradation of ensilage oils)
In addition, it can also be used in municipal plants that receive discharges from these industries or leachate from landfill sites and garbage trucks. DeGrease offers the following benefits:
- Reduces the development of filamentous bacteria improving the settling of active sludge (S.V.I., Molhman index)
- It increases the degradation of COD/BOD
- Reduces odour emissions derived from compounds such as butyric acid, caproic acid and caprylic acid
- Saves energy improving oxygen transfer in the aeration basin
- Favours the nitrification process
- Improves the sludge digestion and mechanical dewateringreducing the use of coagulants and flocculants

Doses and directions for use
Usage and Dosage
DeGrease dosages vary depending on the type and amount of pollutants present and will be determined by our technical staff in cooperation with plant managers. Examples of dosages include:
- Start-up dosage100 g/ cubic metre over the total volume of the oxidation tanks.
- Maintenance dosage20 g/m³ day on the incoming effluent volume for 2 weeks or more if necessary. Thereafter it can be reduced to 5 g/m³ day.
For best product yield, dilute in system waste water (1 kg product/15 kg water) and aerate for a few hours before pouring into the oxidation tank.
Conservation and Storage
Store DeGrease in a cool, dry place, avoiding frost and direct exposure to sunlight and rain. If stored correctly in unopened packaging, the product remains stable for 1 year.

DeGrease is not harmful to humans, fish, insects and animals. Operate in a confined environment and keep the product out of the reach of children.
