N-Expell
eliminator of nitrogen compounds in wastewater
liquid
CHARACTERISTICS
N.expell is a nitrifying product consisting of a complex mixture of cultures of useful natural microorganisms specialised in the oxidation of ammoniacal nitrogen (nitrification process). N.expell also has an excellent flocculating effect.
Applications
N.expell is used in sewage treatment to simultaneously transform ammonium and nitrite into nitrate depending on operating conditions. It is also used in aquaculture plants for ammonium removal and organic load reduction; in slurry ponds and ponds to reduce the organic and nitrogen load by inhibiting algae formation; and in leachate treatment.

Doses and directions for use
Usage and Dosage
Shake the pack before use.
Wastewater Treatment Plants (activated sludge, biodiscs, etc.)
- Administer the product in the equalisation tank or, in its absence, at the plant inlet.
- If a nitrification tank exists, ensure a high concentration of O2 dissolved, positive redox and low concentration of organic matter with pH ~7.5÷8.2 and the presence of calcium and magnesium carbonates (e.g. ponds and lakes).
- In the absence of nitrification and denitrification tanks, ensure longer than usual residence times; maintain the NH4+/NO2– + NO3– between 2÷4 (if necessary by adding peroxides or nitrates).
Dosages
- Attachment100 g/ cubic metre over the total volume of all tanks.
- First Maintenance20-50 g/ cubic metre on the volume of incoming effluent.
- Subsequent maintenance5-10 g/m³ on the volume of incoming effluent for a period of 15-20 days.
Aquaculture Facilities
- Feed 3-5 g/ cubic metre of N.expell per day into each tank, for the duration necessary to keep the ammonium content and BOD within acceptable values, while maintaining high oxygenation. Dosages can be increased if necessary.
Slurry ponds
Inject 5÷10 g/ cubic metre of N.expell at the slurry inlet into the ponds (see ratio NH4+/NO2– + NO3–
Ponds
Apply once a week 5 g/m³ N.expell from early spring until late summer, distributing it over as much area as possible (see NH4+/NO2– + NO3–
Conservation and Storage
Store in the refrigerator. DO NOT FREEZE. The product is stable for 6 months from the date on the package if stored correctly.
Warnings
The product is non-toxic to humans, plants, insects, fish and pets; however, contact with skin and eyes should be avoided. Do not ingest and keep out of reach of children.
Notes
For other applications, request assistance and documentation from MS BIOTECH for each specific application.
